As a defensive back from 1998-2001, Wingeart is one of the greatest defensive players in the history of the McDaniel football program. The Green Terror won over 84% of its games during his career, totaling 39 wins, including four Centennial Conference championships and four appearances in the NCAA Division III Football Championship.

Wingeart ranks third in program history with 15 career interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. His eight interceptions in 2001 are the second most in a single season while his 13 pass breakups that year remain the program record. He has more total pass breakups (28) than any player in McDaniel history.

A two-time All-America selection in 2000 and 2001, Wingeart was selected to play in the 2001 American Football Coaches Association Aztec Bowl. He was also a two-time first team all-conference selection and was named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2001.

Wingeart was later named to the Centennial Conference’s Silver Anniversary Team.
