• Began his extensive teaching and coaching career, earning an advanced professional certificate in Biology from the Maryland State Department of Education and a Master's of Education degree from Salisbury University in 1998
• Served as science department chair for nearly 20 years
• 1995, he was named Dorchester County's Computer Teacher of the Year
