BALTIMORE, Md. - The McDaniel College men's track & field team traveled to two different meets on Saturday with the throwers going to the Mason-Dixon Invitational and the rest of the team to the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational.
The team came away with four event winners and five new entries on the program's top-10 list as well as six new Centennial Conference qualifiers at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational.
Junior Tyren Proctor won the 110 hurdles running a time of 15.00. Junior John Geniti would also win in pole vault jumping 3.19 meters.
In the long jump, sophomore Alex Brown posted a mark of 6.90 meters to place second and moving him into fifth in program history. Freshman Christian Taylor placed 24th (5.84 meters) and junior DaVaughn Joyner placed 30th (5.72 meters) as both qualified for the 2023 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Sophomore Oral-Anthony Coleman placed fifth in the 100-meter dash, running a time of 10.92 seconds to move him into fourth in program history while Proctor placed 18th with a time of 11.42 seconds. Senior Malachi Thompson finished 19th in a time of 11.43 seconds.
Junior Nick Raumann posted a time of 10:18.22 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to finish ninth with the seventh-best total in program history.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Proctor, Coleman, senior Nick Razze and sophomore Jeremiah Maxwell finished second with a time of 42.42 seconds, the fourth-fastest time in school history.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Razze, Maxwell, senior Anthony Razze and junior Tyler Richardson won the event with a time of 3:22.69, a mark that ranked them 10th in program history.
Proctor placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.88 seconds while freshman Noah DeJesus ran a time of 1:09.74 to place eighth and qualify for the conference championships.
Sophomore Jake Conklin placed ninth in the shot put with a throw of 11.43 meters.
Brown placed 10th in high jump with a jump of 1.73 meters while senior Jayson Jones placed 17th with a leap of 1.63 meters to qualify for the conference championships. Taylor placed 19th.
Freshman Jack Reiser finished 11th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.32 while A. Razze placed 16th with a time of 2:03.17 to qualify for the conference meet.
Freshman Jack Sears placed 20th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:04.68 while junior Tyler Richardson qualified for the conference championships with a time of 4:11.08.
At the Mason-Dixon Invitational hosted by Gettysburg, the men left with one new school record before the rest of the event was canceled for rain.
In the hammer throw, senior Collin Wainwright recorded a mark of 44.03 meters to beat his own school record by 2.5 meters and finish third. Sophomore Jacob Graham placed ninth with a throw of 39.52 meters, moving him into third in program history.
McDaniel will compete in the Gallaudet International next Saturday, April 29 in the team's final tune-up before the 2023 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
