Fritz hands out three assists at home

THE SKINNY
Swarthmore scored the first five goals of the game and eventually built a 10-goal halftime lead en route to a 18-8 victory over McDaniel.

THE LEADERS
Jason Fritz (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg) led the Green Terror with three assists.
Nick DeLoriers (Abingdon, Md./John Carroll) tallied a two goals and two assists.

FOR THE FOES
• Von Mabbs led the Garnet with four goals.
• Carter Strauch chipped in three goals and three assists.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Swarthmore scored five unassisted goals by five different players in teh game's first 8:42 to build an early lead. Patrick Fegan (Edgewater, Md./South River) ended the run with 4:16 left in the quarter when Nick DeLoriers found him cutting in front of the net. The Garnet, however, scored the final three of the quarter including a pair from Michael Hardiman to take an 8-1 lead.
Dom Calderoni (Glen Cove, N.Y./North Shore) opened the second-quarter scoring off a pass from Jason Fritz 91 seconds into the period but Swarthmore scored the next three and five of the next six to take a 13-3 lead into the break. Fritz recorded his second assist of the day when he found a cutting Zach Micklos (Washington, D.C./St. John's College) with 4:49 on the clock for the lone Green Terror goal.
• Cooper Bucklan and DeLoriers traded goals in the first 5:06 of the third quarter before three more Garnet tallies pushed the lead to 14-7 with 5:43 remaining. DeLorier found Micklos just a minute after that to make it a 17-5 game enter in the final period.
• After a goal by Will Kelly at the 11:47 mark to once again give Swarthmore a 13-goal lead, McDaniel scored the final three of the game. Calderoni and DeLoriers recorded their second goals of the afternoon followed by Dylan Vitale (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township), who found the back of the net with 32 seconds remaining in the contest.

THE INSIDE STORY
• Swarthmore had the advantage in shots 50-34 and ground balls, 34-18.
• Joel Paulson went 17-21 on faceoffs for the Garnet, who won 20 of 27 on the day as a team.

NEXT UP
McDaniel returns to action at home against Washington (Md.) on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
