Vitale tallies three goals in road win

McDaniel scored the game's first seven goals en route to an 11-3 win over Goucher,

THE LEADERS
Dylan Vitale (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township) led the Green Terror with three goals.
Nick DeLoriers (Abingdon, Md./John Carroll) finished with two goals and two assists.
Brighton Lorber (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) made 14 saves to backstop the defense.

FOR THE FOES
• Milan Temple was one of three different goal scorers for the Gophers, adding three ground balls.scored for the Gophers and scooped up three ground balls.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Nick DeLoriers bookended a 4-0 first quarter for McDaniel, scoring 32 seconds into the game and in the final 13 seconds. Patrick Fegan (Edgewater, Md./South River) made it 2-0 just a minute after DeLoriers' first goal. Dylan Vitale opened his three-goal night with 63 seconds left in the quarter before DeLoriers capitalized off a pass from Bobby Ruppert (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) in the waning seconds.
Dom Calderoni (Glen Cove, N.Y./North Shore) stretched the lead to 5-0 just 3:33 into the second quarter. Liam DeLorenzo (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) found Vitale midway the quarter to make it 6-0 before DeLoriers found John Lux (Cornwall, Pa./Cedar Crest) for a man-up tally. Goucher broke up the shutout on a Milan Temple goal with 3:03 to play before the break.
• Jared Heath made it a 7-2 game with 5:36 to play in the third quarter before the Green Terror responded with goals by Zach Micklos (Washington, D.C./St. John's College) and Calderoni 46 seconds apart. Jared Halverson scored for the Gophers in the closing seconds of the quarter to make it a 9-3 game.
• Lux and Vitale ronded out the scoring in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter before the McDaniel defense took over and pitched the final-quarter shutout.

THE INSIDE STORY
Dylan Vitale recorded his first collegiate hat trick.
Jason Heeley (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) won 15 of the 17 faceoffs he took. He also picked up eight ground balls.
