THE SKINNY STORY
Washington (Md.) broke open a 3-2 game with nine straight markers en route to a 13-4 win over McDaniel.
THE LEADERS
• Brighton Lorber (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) made a career-high 23 saves in goal.
• Pat Fegan (Edgewater, Md./South River) led the attack with a pair of goals.
FOR THE FOES
• Brady McFalls led the Shoremen with four goals.
• Ewan Temple contributed a hat trick of his own.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Sean Reilly staked Washington to an early 1-0 before 48 seconds had elapsed in the contest. Brady McFalls finished a feed from Joe Maimone nearly two minutes to double the advantage. Pat Fegan finished a pass from John Lux (Cornwall, Pa./Cedar Crest) with 9:19 to play in the first quarter to make it a 2-1 game. After McFalls pushed the lead back to two, Fegan finished a third-chance goal to make it 3-2 with 4:12 remaining. A Kain Domenech man-up goal, however, with 2:23 on the clock started a 9-0 Shoremen run.
• Charlie Wittich, who had pushed the lead to three in the final minute of the first quarter, scored 12 seconds into the second quarter before two Ewan Temple goals in the period stretched the lead to 8-2 at the break.
• Logan Clefisch made it 9-2 just 1:03 into third quarter before Maimone quickly took advantage of a 5-3 advantage for an 10-2 lead with 10:07 on the clock.
• McFalls scored on either side of the quarter break to make it 12-2. Dom Calderoni (Glen Cove, N.Y./North Shore) found the back of the net off a Micah Brooks (Woolford, Md./Cambridge South Dorecester) feed with 7:11 to play. Dylan Vitale (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.) made it back-to-back tallies just 2:07 later before Temple rounded out his hat trick in the final 4:16.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Dom Calderoni's fourth-quarter goal was the first point of his collegiate career.
• Washington outshot McDaniel 68-25 in the game and won 15 of 21 faceoffs.
