Marshall nets six goals in home win

THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel jumped out to an 8-2 lead early in the second quarter and never looked back in a 21-8 win over Allegheny.

THE LEADERS
• Carson Marshall (Brookeville, Md./Glenelg) led the Green Terror with six goals and three assists for nine points.
• Micah Brooks (Woolford, Md./Cambridge-South Dorchester) added five goals and three assists for eight points.
• Jason Heeley (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) went 17 of 22 at the faceoff X and picked up nine ground balls.
Brighton Lorber (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) made 10 saves in goal.

FOR THE FOES
• Patrick Hogan scored six of the eight goals for the Gators.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Carson Marshall finished a pair of solo runs just 34 seconds apart for a 2-0 lead with 12:08 to play in the opening period. Micah Brooks then found Pat Fegan (Edgewater, Md./South River) with 9:29 to play before Brooks returned the favor for Fegan a minute later. Two Patrick Hogan goals a minute apart cut the margin in half with 6:51 to play. Marshall finished his hat trick with 6:20 on the clock before Jackson Reilly (Churchton, Md./Southern) hit Bryce Brookhart (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) with 5:23 showing to cap the first-quarter scoring.
• Fegan and Dylan Vitale (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.) scored 60 seconds apart to push the lead to 8-2 just 3:32 into the second period. Zackery Devers found Hogan and Nick Jordan for a pair of man-up goals to cut the deficit to 8-4 but Brookhart found the back of the net with 70 ticks remaining for a 9-4 lead at the break.
• Fegan started a run of four goals by four players in the first 4:41 of the third quarter to stretch the lead to 13-4. Hogan momentarily halted the run before Brooks scored twice. David Kraus and Marshall traded goals in the final 25 seconds of the third quarter to keep it a 10-goal margin.
• Brooks and Hogan traded goals in the first 4:05 of the fourth before McDaniel netted four of the last five markers, including Marshall's sixth with 10:06 remaining.

THE INSIDE STORY
• The 21 goals were the most in a game by the Green Terror since tallying 22 against Adrian on Mar. 4, 2017.
• The six goals and nine points were both career highs for Carson Marshall.
• Micah Brooks' five goals tied a career best while his eight points was a career high.
• McDaniel finished with a 47-32 advantage in shots and 35-22 advantage in ground balls.
