THE SKINNY STORY
Goucher outscored McDaniel 11-4 over the final three quarters to overcome an early three-goal deficit and notch a 12-8 road win.
THE LEADERS
• Brighton Lorber (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) led the Green Terror with 14 saves in goal.
• Jackson Reilly (Churchton, Md./Southern) led the attack with two goals and an assist.
• Carson Marshall (Brookeville, Md./Glenelg) added two goals and an assist of his own.
FOR THE FOES
• Matt Woodson led the Gophers with three goals and two assists.
• Rashaad Evans added two goals and three assists.
• Justin Lugo made 13 saves in net.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Micah Brooks (Woolford, Md./Cambridge-South Dorchester) found Pat Fegan (Edgewater, Md./South River) for a 1-0 lead just 1:07 into the game. In transition, Robert Ruppert (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) hit Zach Micklos (Washington, D.C./St. John's College) for a 2-0 lead 1 minute, 35 seconds later. Jared Heath cut the deficit in half off a feed from Woodson with 8:27 on the clock. Back-to-back markers from Jackson Reilly stretched to 4-1 with 4:24 to play in the opening period.
• Woodson finished a solo run 49 seconds into the second quarter before a pair of Rashaan Evans goals drew the visitors even with 6:35 remaining. Evans then found Jared Halverson with 4:22 showing to give Goucher the lead for the first time. Ben Smith hit the back of the net with seven ticks remaining for a 6-4 lead at the break.
• Andrew Sade and Carson Marshall traded goals in the first 41 seconds of the third quarter to keep a two-goal game. Woodson then scored midway through the period for an 8-5 edge. Micah Brooks and Marshall scored nearly four minutes apart to trim the deficit to 8-7 with 1:34 to play in the quarter. Smith, however, pushed the lead back to two just 44 seconds later.
• Sade and Woodson each scored in the first 5:35 of the fourth quarter for a 11-7 lead. Marshall found Fegan with 7:00 on the clock but Jared Halverson finished from Evans for the final margin with 5:27 to play.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Michael Scott (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) led the defense with two caused turnovers and three ground balls.
