Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Swarthmore scored eight straight goals to break a 2-all deadlock and defeat McDaniel 11-4 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Joey Conklin (Westminster, Md./Westminster) led the Green Terror (6-9, 1-6 CC) with six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Austin Chang led the Garnet (7-5, 2-4 CC) with four goals.
Tied at 2-all, Chang finished a feed from Nathaniel Johns with 2:29 to play in the first quarter to give the visitors a one-goal edge heading to the second period.
Johns stretched the lead to 4-2 just 1:25 into the next quarter before Cam Marsh scored twice in the final 31 seconds of the half to stretch the lead to 6-2.
Goals from Zander Levitz and Chang stretched the advantage to 8-2 after three quarters. Chang's third goal of the game came with just nine ticks remaining in the quarter.
Mason Evarts and Chang capped the eight-goal run with unassisted markers in the first 6:54 of the fourth.
Jackson Kratovil (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) broke up a 47-minute scoring drought, finishing a solo run with 4:26 to play.
Marsh and Jackson Reilly (Churchton, Md./Southern) traded goals over the final 2:41 to set the final margin.
Johns and Chang staked the Garnet to a 2-0 lead in two minutes, scoring five seconds apart.
Carson Marshall (Brookeville, Md./Glenelg), however, found Micah Brooks (Woolford, Md./Cambridge-South Dorchester) and Bryce Brookhart (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) in succession to even the game with 5:15 to play in the first quarter.
McDaniel concludes the season at Gettysburg on Wednesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
