Box Score GALLOWAY, N.J. – Stockton staved off a fourth-quarter rally by McDaniel for a 16-13 win in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Micah Brooks (Woolford, Md./Cambridge South Dorcester) led the Green Terror (5-3) with four goals.
Joey Tiernan led the Ospreys (2-2) with six goals and one assist.
Jared Payne (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and Brooks staked McDaniel to a first-quarter lead, scoring nearly seven minutes apart to open up a 2-0 lead at the 6:44 mark of the period.
Stockton, however, tallied seven goals in a 3-minute, 52-second span to take a 7-2 lead with 7:58 to play in the second quarter.
Tiernan finished his hat trick during the run, including converting a pair of man-up opportunities.
Bryce Brookhart (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) stopped the run with 6:12 on the clock and sparked a 3-0 counter that closed the deficit to 7-5 before Luc Swedlund finished the first-half scoring with 2:09 remaining for a three-goal lead at the break.
Two goals from Tiernan and two more from Swedlund in the first 5:58 of the third quarter stretched the lead to 12-5.
Joey Conklin (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and Sam Mutz (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) found the back of the net at the 4:49 and 1:27 marks, respectively, to trim the deficit to 12-7.
Tommy Gallo made it a 13-7 game after three quarters before two goals from Brooks keyed a 3-0 start to the fourth quarter, once again closing the margin to three with 8:52 to play.
The teams traded goals over the remaining time for the three-goal final.
The Green Terror returns to action in the Centennial Conference opener at home against Haverford on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
