Katzen makes six second-half saves

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Gettysburg scored the game's first 12 goals for a 12-2 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Wednesday.

Jakob Katzen (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) led the Green Terror (6-10, 1-7 CC) with six saves in relief in the second half.

Sean Fumai paced the Bullets (9-5, 5-2 CC) with three goals.

Tommy Heller staked Gettysburg to a 2-0 lead in the game's first 2:17 before Fumai finished a solo run with 6:58 on the clock.

Geoff Fulgione won the ensuing faceoff and went straight to the cage to make it a 4-0 game.

Mike Risser and Fumai closed out a 6-0 first quarter.

Fumai finished his hat trick, scoring a man-up tally with 3:35 to play in the second quarter for an 8-0 lead at the break.

After a pair of third quarter goals, Jack Harvey went back-to-back 2:20 apart to make it a 12-0 game with 11:14 to play.

Carson Marshall (Brookeville, Md./Glenelg) broke up the shutout, finishing a quick pass from Timothy McNichol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) with 6:49 play.

McNichol then finished a second-chance opportunity from Troy Becker (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) with 1:44 remaining.
