Lykens tallies five in road victory

Box Score

IMMACULATA, Pa. – McDaniel opened up a 5-1 lead early in the second quarter, downing Immaculata 18-4 in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Wednesday.

Quinn Lykens (Baltimore, Md./Towson) recorded five goals to lead the Green Terror (1-1), who recorded its most goals in a single game since a 19-10 win over Marywood on Mar. 9, 2013. It was the largest margin of victory since 2011.

Tyler Black scored for the Mighty Macs (0-1) in the first quarter – one of four different goal scorers.

Cooper Archambault (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) converted McDaniel's second man-up opportunity of the game, staking his team to a 1-0 lead off the first of four Carson Marshall (Brookeville, Md./Glenelg) assists with 12:08 to play in the opening quarter.

Black drew the hosts even with 10:10 remaining before Troy Becker (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) and Lykes each finished solo runs in the final 1:42 of the first quarter.

Goals by Sam Mutz (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) and Marshall in the first 3:13 of the second quarter extended the lead to 5-1 before Mike Reardon converted a man-up opportunity to make it a 5-2 game midway through the period.

A pair of Lykens goals around another Archambault man-up tally in the final 5:07 of the quarter pushed the lead to 8-2 at the break. Lykens completed his hat trick off a Becker pass right before the final horn.

Mutz, Chase Hartman (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area), Marshall and Emmett Turley (Cross Plains, Wis./Middleton) accounted for the first four goals of the second half, stretching the lead to 12-2 with 7:34 on the clock.

After McKenna Touey broke up the 7-0 run, Lykens finished a solo run with 4:42 showing in third quarter.

Jackson Reilly (Churchton, Md./Southern), Vasilios Sidou (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) and Sean Allan Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) all scored their first collegiate goals in the final 15:56 of the game to help set the final margin.

McDaniel finished with a 60-15 advantage in shots and 51-21 advantage in ground balls. The Green Terror also won 23 of the 26 faceoffs in the contest, including a 14-for-16 from Zach Bicho (Millstone, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton). Bicho also picked up eight ground balls while Jake Schoenick (Port Republic, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) added seven ground balls. He went 7-for-8 at the X.

Will Kroppe (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) picked up four ground balls and had three caused turnovers.
