McNichol nets five goals in win

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel built a 10-2 halftime lead en route to a 12-6 victory over Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday.

Timothy McNichol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) led the Green Terror (3-10, 1-5 CC) with five goals.

Brad D'Alessandro paced the Mules (3-11, 0-6 CC) with four goals.

Zach Monzo (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead just 27 seconds into the game.

Alex Hanna (Odenton, Md./Arundel) and Jason Lawrence (Fallston, Md./Fallston) tallied 1:11 apart to stretch the lead to 3-0 with 6:55 to play in the opening quarter.

Harry Caufield (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Bergen Catholic) finished a feed from Jackson Balkin (Buffalo, N.Y./Saint Joseph's Collegiate Institute) to stretch the lead to 4-0 just 1:45 into the second period.

Lawrence finished a solo run for his second of the day before Ty Weisberg converted a man-up opportunity with 10:41 showing to give the guests their first tally.

Four straight McNichol tallies over a 6-minute, 10-second span pushed the lead to 9-1 with 3:02 to play in the opening half.

Troy Becker (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) and D'Alessandro traded goals in the final 1:48 of the half to make it a 10-2 game at the break.

Two more D'Alessandro goals around a Joey Hess tally closed the deficit to 10-5 before Lawrence completed a hat trick with 1:24 to play in the third quarter.

D'Alessandro and McNichol traded solo runs in the final period to set the final margin.

Zach Bicho (Millstone, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) went 13-for-20 in faceoffs with nine ground balls.

McDaniel finished with a 48-28 advatantage in shots and 34-18 advantage in ground balls.

The Green Terror finished with a 47-27 advantage in shots, including a 13-6 edge in the decisive fourth quarter. Eric Ritchie (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) made 10 stops in goal for McDaniel.

Zach Bicho (Millstone, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) went 9 of 16 on faceoffs with five ground balls.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Gettysburg on Saturday. Game time is 7 p.m.
