FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Mary Washington scored the first five goals of the game en route to a 15-6 victory over McDaniel in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday.

Calvin Fleagle (Forest Hill, Md./Bel Air) led the Green Terror (0-1) with two goals in the season opener. Will Kroppe (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) led the defense with four caused turnovers and five ground balls.

Mike Marson paced the Eagles (2-1) with four goals and two assists.

Marson staked Mary Washington to a 1-0 lead with 10:49 to play in the opening quarter before Noah Dewey scored twice in a 3-minute, 51-second span.

A Marson solo run stretched the lead to 4-0 with 1:41 to play before Miles Davis made it a 5-0 game with 19 seconds showing.

Alex Hanna (Odenton, Md./Arundel) scored directly off the ensuing faceoff to get McDaniel on the board nine seconds later.

Dewey and Own Dingman scored 1:39 apart to make it a 7-1 game just 2:57 into the second quarter before Fleagle tallied his first of the day with 8:56 showing.

A pair of Marson goals in the third quarter capped another 4-0 run for the Eagles, extended the lead to 11-2 with 5:28 remaining.

Harry Caufield (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Bergen Catholic) finished a solo run late in the period before Fleagle scored off a Zach Monzo (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) feed early in the fourth.

After Davis pushed the lead to 12-4, Timothy McNichol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) and Dylan Chaikin (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) scored 25 seconds apart to trim the deficit to 12-6 with 9:14 to play.

Three different Mary Washington players scored in the final 7:39 to set the final margin.

The Eagles finished with a 19-5 advantage at the X in addition to a 40-23 edge in shots and 51-29 advantage in ground balls.

The Green Terror returns to action at York (Pa.) on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
