Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. –McDaniel closed the game on an 11-2 run, including scoring the game's final eight goals, to tally an 11-6 win over Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Wednesday.
Patrick Serio (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) led the Green Terror (6-5, 3-2 CC) with four goals and an assist.
Cam Marsh paced the Garnet (6-4, 1-3 CC) with two goals and an assist.
Trailing 4-0 with 11:59 to play, Zach Monzo (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) got McDanielk on the board 66 seconds later.
Alex Scott stretched the Swarthmore lead back to four with 6:38 showing before Pat Bivons (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakeflield) finished a solo run with 2:17 to play.
Sean Brett (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame) finished a pass from Jason Lawrence (Fallston, Md./Fallston) just before the first-half horn sounded to draw the hosts within 5-3 at the intermission.
Marsh extended the lead back to three just 2:15 into the second half before Serio and the McDaniel attack took over.
Serio finished a Quinn Lykens (Baltimore, Md./Towson) pass to give the sophomore his first collegiate point.
Serio then put home a Bivons pass to make it a one-goal game with 8:46 to play in the third quarter.
Just 44 seconds, Serio found Timothy McNichol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) curling in from of the cage to even the game.
Another Serio marker, this time from Kyle Fielder (Reisterstown, Md./North Carroll), gave McDaniel its first lead of the game with 2:09 showing in the period.
Lawrence skipped a pass to Monzo that he finished for an 8-6 advantage 2:44 into the final quarter.
Serio finished a solo run nearly two minutes later.
With 2:52 to play, Lykens notched his second collegiate point, hitting McNichol for a 10-6 lead.
Lawrence capped the scoring, finding the back of an open net 46 seconds later.
Sam Sokota opened the scoring just 1:46 into the game, a lead that held until Andrew Preiser found the back of the net with 2:24 to play in the first quarter.
Eric Levin and Marsh scored nearly two minutes apart for an early 4-0 lead.
McDaniel finished with a 43-30 advantage in shots and 30-18 advantage in ground balls. Zach Bicho (Millston, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) picked up eight of those ground balls, winning 11 of 20 faceoffs.
Will Kroppe (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) added six ground balls and two caused turnovers while Eric Ritchie (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethapage) backstopped the defense with 13 saves.
The Green Terror returns to action at Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game time is 5 p.m.
