Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg, ranked second in the latest USILA Division III coaches' poll, scored 11 straight goals to break a 5-all deadlock and defeat McDaniel 16-6 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Zach Bicho (Millstone, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) led the Green Terror (7-6, 4-3 CC) with an 18-for-24 day on faceoffs. He also picked up eight ground balls.
Bijan Firouzan helped the Bullets (13-0, 6-0 CC) remain undefeated on the season and secure a playoff spot with six goals.
Kyle Fiedler (Reisterstown, Md./North Carroll) staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead just 17 seconds into the game.
Gettysburg responded with three straight goals, including Firouzan's first to tie the game with 13:39 showing.
Jason Lawrence (Fallston, Md./Fallston) closed the margin to 3-2 with 4:30 to play in the first quarter before Firouzan stretched the advantage to 4-2 with 1:55 to play in the period.
Jimmy Morris opened the second quarter scoring before the Green Terror reeled off three straight to even the contest.
Sean Brett (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame) scored with 10:13 to play in the second quarter before Jackson Balkin (Buffalo, N.Y./Saint Joseph's Collegiate Institute) made it a one-goal game with 7:01 showing.
Patrick Serio (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) converted a man-up tally nearly four minutes later to draw the visitors even.
Firouzan and Robby Maddux tallied in the final 1:15 of the half to take a two-goal lead to the locker room.
The Bullets carried that momentum into the second half, scoring eight times in the third quarter before Maddux capped his four-goal day 2:43 into the fourth quarter.
Colin Campbell (Malvern, Pa./Strath Haven) closed the scoring with 26 ticks to play in the game.
The Green Terror concludes the regular season at home against Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 4 p.m.
