Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington (Md.) tallied seven of the game's final eight goals to top McDaniel 9-5 in the Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse opener for both teams on Saturday.
Calvin Fleagle (Forest Hill, Md./Bel Air) led the Green Terror (3-4, 0-1 CC) with two goals and an assist.
Stephen Luck paced the Shoremen (2-5, 1-0 CC) with three goals and an assist.
Trailing 4-2 after Fleagle's second of the day with 6:15 to play in the second quarter, Tyler Powers finished a solo run to close the deficit to one with 28 seconds remaining in the first half.
Owen Evans scored the lone goal of the third quarter, drawing Washington even with 9:28 on the clock.
Four different Shoremen each tallied markers to stretch the lead to 8-4 with 3:37 remaining in the fourth quarter before Pat Bivons (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and Sam Birnbaum traded goals in the final 1:43 to set the final margin.
Luck staked Washington to a 1-0 lead 2:12 into the game before Fleagle evened the game midway through the period.
Fleagle then hit Timothy McNichol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) with 4:27 to play in the first quarter and Sean Brett (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame) capped the first-quarter scoring, giving the visitors a 3-1 lead.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Dickinson on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
