Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Eastern scored three goals in the final 1:14 of the first half to build an 8-5 lead en route to an 11-8 victory over McDaniel in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Wednesday.
Dylan Chaikin (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) led the Green Terror (2-2) with his first two goals of the season.
David Darling led the Eagles (5-0) with three goals and three assists.
Tied at 5-all on Chaikin's second tally of the second quarter, Tim Lamb finished a solo run with 1:14 to play in the period, putting the visitors back on top.
Joe Palo won the ensuing faceoff and went right to goal for his first marker of the season six seconds later. Lamb found Trevor Gallion with 18 seconds left before the break for the three-goal edge.
Grant Ferguson scored the only goal of the third quarter, hitting the back of the net with 75 second remaining.
Darling pushed the advantage to 10-5, finishing a solo run with 6:07 to play.
Troy Becker (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) notched his second goal of the day with 5:11 to play before Bryan Goetz pushed the lead back to five with 2:02 on the clock.
Jason Lawrence (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and Timothy McNichol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) tallied 29 seconds apart to close the scoring with 1:02 remaining.
Becker staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead just 1:25 into the game before Darling found three different teammates to put Eastern on top 3-1 after one quarter.
Pat Bivons (Cockeysille, Md./Loyola Blakefield) closed the deficit to one just 58 seconds into the second quarter before Darling responded with a solo run at the 8:34 mark.
Goals form Chaikin and Sean Brett (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame) drew the hosts even with 5:44 showing.
Darling ripped a man-up tally with 4:25 showing before Chaikin once again evened the game with 2:00 remaining.
Zach Bicho (Millstone, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) won 13 of 23 faceoffs and picked up nine ground balls.
McDaniel returns to action at Ferrum on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
