WESTMINSTER, Md. – York (Pa.) outscored McDaniel 6-1 after halftime to rally for a 9-5 non-conference men's lacrosse victory on Saturday.

Eric Ritchie (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) made 18 saves in goal for the Green Terror (0-1), who finally opened its season after three tries over the last week.

Andrew Warburton and Andrew Gamble led the 10th-ranked Spartans (2-0) with two goals and two assists each.

Trailing 4-2 on a Troy Becker (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) unassisted marker midway through the second quarter, Matt Whitcher trimmed the deficit to one at the intermission.

Just 1:44 into the second half, Tyler Hutson finished a Gamble man-up feed to even the game.

Becker responded two minutes later, finishing a pass from Patrick Serio (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) to put the hosts back in front.

However, Dillon Hannah hit the back of the net with 9:32 showing in the third quarter to spark a five-goal flurry to the finish.

Warburton gave York a 6-5 edge with 7:53 to play in the period before a pair of Gamble tallies and Joey Fiorino marker in the final quarter set the final margin.

Timothy McNichol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) scored twice in a 14-second span to stake McDaniel to a 2-0 lead in the game's first 1:33.

Warburton got York on the board with 6:39 showing before Calvin Fleagle (Forest Hill, Md./Bel Air) reestablished the two-goal edge with 3:19 on the clock.

Hannah and Becker traded goals 1:21 apart to keep it a two-goal game.

Zach Bicho (Millstone, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) went 9-for-18 at the X with seven ground balls.

McDaniel returns to action at Goucher on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
