Bivons tallies four in road win

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – McDaniel jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the game's first 9:38 before holding on to top Swarthmore 14-11 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Wednesday.

Pat Bivons (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) led the Green Terror (5-7, 2-3 CC) with four goals while Eric Ritchie (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) backstopped the defense with 14 saves in his first start.

Jonathan Molloy led the Garnet (4-7, 1-3 CC) with three goals and two assists.

Ryan Weiss (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead, finishing a solo run with 12:29 on the clock.

Bivons finished a feed from Troy Becker (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) to stretch the lead to 2-0 just 45 seconds later.

Two Sean Brett (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame) tallies and a Zach Monzo (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) marker pushed the advantage to 5-0 with 7:41 on the clock.

Timothy McNichol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) found Bivons with 5:22 showing for a 6-0 lead before Andrew Preiser broke up the shutout 20 seconds later.

McNichol finished a solo run to push the lead back to six before Molloy capped an offensive first quarter with 1:43 showing.

Patrick Serio (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) once again made it a six-goal lead just 1:31 into the second quarter, starting a stretch of alternating tallies over the next nearly 11 minutes.

After Bivons made it a 10-4 game with 2:56 showing, Monzo finished a second McNichol helper with 2:12 showing and Bivons pushed the lead 12-4 with 42 ticks remaining.

Eric Levin capped a 17-goal first half, finding the back of the net with seven seconds on the clock.

Graham Lesko and Chris Thompson closed the deficit to 12-7 with 5:42 to play in the third quarter before Bivons hit Becker with 2:04 showing to make it a 13-7 game after three quarters.

Back-to-back goals by Ian Lukaszewica and a Molloy man-up tally trimmed the margin to 13-10 with 12:07 to play.

McNichol and Lukaszewicz traded markers in the final 2:51 to set the final score.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game time is 4 p.m.
