Serio tallies seven

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Gettysburg scored six goals in the final 14:16 to overcome a 15-10 deficit and defeat McDaniel 16-15 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday.

Patrick Serio (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) led the Green Terror (6-9, 3-5 CC) with seven goals.

Jameson Smith tallied all three of his goals in the final 7:49 for the Bullets (9-6, 5-3 CC), who earned the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament and will travel to No. 1 Washington (Md.) for Wednesday's semifinals.

After Serio finished from Matt Dupras (Hillsborough, N.J./Immaculata) late in a man-up situation for a 15-10 lead 12 seconds into the final quarter, Derek Ruebling responded 32 seconds later to spark the final rally.

Martin Manilla netted the final of his five goals with 10:10 showing before Wes Lincoln scored 25 seconds later to draw the visitors with two.

Smith made it a 15-14 game with 7:49 showing before evening the score 2:32 later with a solo run.

Robby Maddux found Smith for the game-winner with 2:35 showing.

Kyle Hewett hit the back of the net just 10 seconds into the game before Serio responded 1:25 later to knot the game at 1-all.

After Manilla put the Bullets on top 2-1, Serio, Zach Monzo (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) and Jason Lawrence (Fallston, Md./Fallston) each scored in a 3-minute, 59-second stretch or a 4-2 advantage.

Manilla capped a three-goal run for Gettysburg to give his team a 5-4 edge at the end of the first quarter.

Monzo tied the game 2:09 into the second period off one of four Pat Bivons (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) helpers.

Three straight McDaniel goals followed by back-to-back Serio tallies made it an 8-7 game at the intermission.

Manilla stretched the Bullet lead to 9-7 with 12:06 showing in the third quarter before Serio started a three-goal run by the Green Terror for a 10-9 lead with 7:20 to play.

Manilla knotted the game with 4:42 remaining in the period before two Lawrence tallies bookended a four-goal stretch in the final 3:47 of the quarter.

Serio scored off a Trey Hunt III (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) feed eight seconds after the first Lawrence score. Dupras rounded out the goal scorers in the stretch.
