Serio scores twice in road win

SCRANTON, Pa. – McDaniel scored five goals in a 6-minute, 48-second span to open up a 5-2 lead en route to a 9-6 victory at Marywood in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday.

Patrick Serio (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) led the Green Terror (2-3) with two goals and an assist.

Ryan Nowewll paced the Pacers (2-3) with two markers.

Trailing 2-0 after unassisted goals from Nowell and Brandon Terlizzi in the fist 5:55, Sean Brett (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame) finished a Matt Dupras (Hillsborough, N.J./Immaculata) pass to get McDaniel on the scoreboard with 4:42 to play in the first quarter.

Troy Becker (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) finished from Zach Monzo (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) 1:23 later to even the game after one quarter.

Pat Bivons (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) finished a solo run 53 seconds into the second quarter for a 3-2 lead before finishing Serio with 13:43 on the clock for a two-goal advantage.

With 12:54 showing, Brett hit Serio for a man-up tally and three-goal lead.

Goals from Dylan Swope and Sam Trill 56 seconds apart trimmed the margin to 5-4 before Ryan Weiss (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) stretched the lead to 6-4 with 6:13 to play in the opening half.

A Kevin Nicholas (Glen Cove, N.Y./Glen Cove) solo run stretched the lead to 7-4 with 8:44 to play in the third quarter before Becker scored in a man-up situation with 6:22 showing for an 8-4 lead.

Scott Slater responded with a man-up goal of his own with 4:47 to play in the third quarter before Nowell hit the back of the net with 3:08 showing in the final period to close the deficit to two.

Monzo finished a feed form Serio with 2:10 to play to set the final margin.

Zach Bicho (Millstone, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) won 10 of the 15 faceoffs he took, picking up six ground balls. Nichols added five ground balls. As a team, McDaniel won 12 of the 18.

Christian Dallmus (Acton, Mass./The Rivers School) made 10 saves for the Green Terror, who finished with a 40-21 advantage in shots and 44-28 advantage in ground balls.

Joe Magargal made 19 stops for Marywood.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Ferrum on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
