Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Ursinus outscored McDaniel 7-3 after halftime to secure an 11-5 Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse victory on Saturday.
Zach Monzo (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) and Pat Bivons (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) tallied a goal and assist apiece to lead the Green Terror (5-10, 2-5 CC), who were eliminated from postseason contention with the loss.
Logan Panaccione led the Bears (7-5, 1-5 CC) to their first conference win of the season with four goals.
Two Jake Weber goals 14 seconds apart staked Ursinus to a 2-0 lead with 7:41 to play in the first quarter.
Weber then found Panaccione with 4:46 to play for a 3-0 lead.
Monzo and Bivons connected just 12 seconds later to make it a 3-1 game after one quarter.
A Panaccione-to-Steven Mussoline goal 55 seconds into the second quarter stretched the lead back to three before Monzo tallied with 12:39 to play, closing the deficit to 4-2 at the break.
Ryan Weiss (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) scored off a Mike Marks (Ellicott City, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) assist 1:34 into the third quarter to close the deficit to one but Ursinus reeled off three straight goals.
Trailing 7-3, Pat Woglom (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) made it a three-goal game with 31 ticks remaining in the period.
However, three more Ursinus goals, including two Mark Stratton-to-Panaccione connections 43 seconds apart made it a 10-4 game midway through the final quarter.
Skippy Clary (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) finished a solo run with 3:32 to play before Mussoline set the final margin with 1:42 showing.
Ryan Gillen (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) went 12-for-19 on faceoffs with six ground balls.
McDaniel concludes the season at Gettysburg on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
