Dupras tallies in double overtime

ALLENTOWN, Md. – McDaniel rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to notch a 14-13 double-overtime win at Muhlenberg 14-13 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday.

Matt Dupras (Hillsborough, N.J./Immaculata) led the Green Terror (5-9, 2-4 CC) with three goals, including the game-winner with 2:48 remaining in the second overtime period.

Jon Thomas led the Mules (6-7, 2-4 CC) with four goals while Jack Reilly added three goals and three assists.

Trailing 4-0 on goals by four different Muhlenberg players over the game's first 18:36, Pat Woglom (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) converted a man-up tally off the first of three Jason Lawrence (Fallston, Md./Fallston) assists with 11:05 to play in the second quarter.

Reilly pushed the lead back to four, scoring 3:01 later before Dupras started a 4-0 run, tying the game at the break.

Pat Bivons (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) converted man-up 46 seconds after Dupras' marker for his first of three tallies, closing the deficit to 5-3 with 5:17 showing.

Dupras made it a 5-4 game with 1:20 on the clock before Skippy Clary (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) found the back of the net with 15 ticks left to tie the game at 5-all.

Lawrence gave the Green Terror its first lead 2:05 into the second half before the Mules countered.

A Jason Mertz tally with 11:13 to play and two Thomas goals 35 seconds apart gave the hosts an 8-6 lead with 9:10 remaining.

Three straight man-up tallies in a 64-second stretch put McDaniel back on top.

Bivons scored off a Dupras feed with 5:41 to play before converted a Lawrence assist to tie the game with 4:58 showing.

Woglom then finished from Lawrence 21 seconds later for a 9-8 lead.

Threee straight Muhlenberg tallies made it an 11-9 game before Ryan Hennessy (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) closed the deficit to one, scoring with eight seconds to play in the third quarter.

A Zach Monzo (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) goal 3:20 into the fourth quarter knotted the game at 11-all before Clary hit a man-up goal 26 seconds later for a 12-11 lead.

A Sean Brett (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame) man-up marker 34 seconds later stretched the lead to 13-11.

Doug Rheiner closed the deficit to one with 9:28 to play in regulation before converting a man-up tally with seven ticks remaining to force overtime.

Ryan Gillen (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) went 15-for-27 at the X, adding five ground balls while Alec Schunk (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) had three caused turnovers. Hennessy added seven ground balls and a caused turnover.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
