Womlon, Monzo net two each

WESTMINSTER, Md. – York (Pa.) scored the final two goals of the game to register a 9-7 non-conference men's lacrosse victory over McDaniel on Saturday.

Michael Woglom (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) and Zach Monzo (Collegeville, Pa./Spring Ford) each tallied two goals to lead the Green Terror (0-4), who finished the game with a 46-38 advantage in shots.

Tyler Hutson paced the Spartans (3-0) with three goals and an assist.

After a Pat Bivons (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) man-up goal knotted the game at 7-all with 4:11 to play, Blake Bing responded 1:09 later, finishing a solo run to put the visitors back on top.

Playing man-up since the 1:07 mark of the quarter, Hutson sealed the victory, finishing a quick pass from James Lowe with 11.1 seconds to play.

Dakota Randall scored the first of three York man-up tallies 2:52 into the game for a 1-0 lead before McDaniel reeled off three straight goals to end the first quarter.

Woglom finished a solo run with 9:02 showing before Matt Dupras (Hillsborough, N.J./Immaculata) scored five minutes later for a 2-1 lead.

Monzo netted his first collegiate marker with 2:30 on the clock for a 3-1 advantage.

Just nine seconds into the second quarter, Daniel Schuck hit Hutson directly off the faceoff to trim the margin to one.

Lowe found Andrew Taylor just 2:41 later for the first of his three helpers, knotting the game at 3-all.

Woglom responded with 8:04 to play in the first half for a 4-3 advantage before Randall once against evened the score with 4:54 on the clock.

Goals from Monzo and Hutson in the final 2:53 of the half kept the game deadlocked at intermission.

With 13:13 showing in the third quarter, Hutson hit Seth Krolus for the leading scorer's first assist of the season and a 6-5 lead.

Lowe doubled the advantage with 6:40 to play, scoring at the end of a man-up situation.

Jason Lawrence (Fallston, Md./Fallston) finished from Skippy Clary (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) in the final 38 seconds of the period to draw the hosts within one before Bivons' equalizer in the fourth.

Christian Dallmus (Acton, Mass./The Rivers School) made 15 saves for the Green Terror while Caleb Abney had 19 stops at the other end in his first collegiate action for the Spartans.

Monzo added a team-high six ground balls to two goals.

The Green Terror returns to action at Goucher on Wednesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
