Woglom tallies two and one

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Mary Washington outscored McDaniel 4-2 in the fourth quarter to capture an 11-9 non-conference men's lacrosse victory on Saturday.

Michael Woglom (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Green Terror (0-2), who finished with a 41-34 advantage in shots on the day.

Luke Dick was one of three players to record hat tricks for the Eagles (2-1), including tallying the hosts final two goals of the afternoon.

Knotted at 7-all after three quarters, Billy Kelly finished a solo run 1:48 into the final period for an 8-7 lead.

Chip Pittard found Sean Dacey just 35 seconds later for a man-up goal and 9-7 advantage.

Jason Lawrence (Fallston, Md./Fallston) finished off a feed from Woglom with 6:45 on the clock the cut the deficit in half but Dick tallied twice in a 1-minute, 57-second span to push the lead to three.

Jimmy Gibbons (Galesville, Md./Southern) set the final margin with an unassisted goal with 1:39 to play.

After John Bohlinger converted a man-up opportunity 1:24 into the game, McDaniel reeled off five straight goals to take a four-goal advantage with 12:40 to play in the first half.

Woglom started the fun off a Pat Bivons (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) assist with 9:56 on the first-quarter clock.

Pat Woglom (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) finished from Lawrence with 4:05 showing before Skippy Clary (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) converted in a man-down situation with 1:13 remaining for a 4-1 lead.

Michael Woglom pushed the lead to four before Kelly started a 5-0 Mary Washington run with an unassisted goal 15 seconds later.

Bohlinger made it a 5-3 game before Sean Dacey hit the back of the net in a man-up situation with 3:24 to play in the second quarter and Kelly scored with 11 ticks remaining to knot the game entering halftime.

Dacey converted another of the Eagles' four man-up goals 1:57 into the third quarter for a 6-5 lead before Clary responded at the 8:48 mark with an unassisted goal of his own.

Dick and Lawrence traded tallies in the final 6:18 of the period to keep the game tied heading to the final 15 minutes.

Gibbons finished with 10 ground balls while Ryan Gillen (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) won 14 of his 23 faceoffs.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against No. 1 Salisbury on Wednesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
