WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored five fourth-quarter goals to break a 6-all deadlock and defeat Kenyon 11-6 in the men's lacrosse season opener for both teams on Saturday.

DJ Rickels (Forest Hill, Md./Boys Latin School of Maryland) led the Green Terror (1-0) with five goals to become the 14th player in program history with 100 career goals.

Geoff Akie and Will Lowe paced the Lords (0-1) with two goals each. Akie added an assist.

Trailing 6-5 after Lowe finished a Chris Pappalardo feed midway through the third quarter, Skippy Clary (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) finished a solo run to knot the game with 5:49 remaining in the period.

Ben Yancheski (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) scored off a Michael Woglom (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) feed to give McDaniel the lead for good just 1:03 into the final quarter.

Rickels extended the advantage to 8-6 just 2:25 later with his final goal of the day and 101st of his collegiate career.

JS Duke (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) converted a just after a man-up opportunity expired from Rickels with 9:14 to play for a 9-6 lead before Duke found the back of the net for a second time with 7:31 to play.

Yancheski found Clary for his second goal of the day, setting the final margin with 4:01 to play. It was Yancheski's third assist of the day.

Michael Young (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) and Rickels staked McDaniel to a 2-0 lead before 2:38 had elapsed in the contest.

Yancheski found Young at the 12:45 mark before Yancheski finished a Pat Bivons (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) assist 23 seconds later for a 2-0 lead.

Alimam cut the deficit in half off an Akie assist with 7:29 on the clock before Rickels pushed the lead back to two with 2:43 to play in the opening quarter.

Alimam found Akie 56 seconds into the second period and Lowe finished a solo run just over a minute later to knot the game at 3-all.

A Clary-to-Rickels connection put the Green Terror back on top with 5:10 to play in the period before Patrick Kim and Akie gave Kenyon its first lead, 5-4.

Rickels drew the hosts even 34 seconds before intermission with an assisted tally to join the century club.

Christian Dallmus (Acton, Mass./Rivers School) finished with nine saves for McDaniel, which outshot Kenyon 32-21 on the day. Clary added five ground balls.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Mary Washington on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
