Green Terror takes 6-1 lead into locker room, downs Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – DJ Rickels (Forest Hill, Md./Boys
Latin School of Maryland) recorded five goals to lead
McDaniel to an 11-6 victory over Muhlenberg in Centennial
Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Gibbs Preston (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) added
two goals and two assists for the Green Terror (6-5, 3-2 CC), who
helped force a four-way tie for third place in the win column with
three conference games to play.
Brent Siebold led the Mules (4-6, 3-4 CC) with
three goals.
A pair of Nick DiBernardo (Towson, Md./Calvert
Hall)-to-Rickels man-up tallies keyed a 3-0 first
quarter.
Kyle Hadden (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown)
recorded his first goal of the season to round out the first-period
scoring.
William Clary (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville)
stretched the lead to 4-0 just 2:23 into the second quarter before
Alex Ardolino got Muhlenberg on the board midway
through the period.
Preston and Rickels stretched the lead to 6-1 at the break.
An Ari Jacobson unassisted tally 28 seconds
into the third quarter pulled the hosts within 6-2 but back-to-back
Rickels markers 54 seconds apart pushed the lead to 8-2 with 12:10
to play in the period.
Siebold notched a pair of goals before DiBernardo found the back
of the net with two seconds to play in the third quarter for a 9-4
lead.
Michael Young (Pylesville, Md./North Harford)
and Preston pushed the lead to 11-4 with 3:03 to paly before
Siebold and Jack Reilly closed out the
scoring.
Ty Wittelsberger (Parkton, Md./Hereford) made
13 saves in goal for the Green Terror.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Franklin &
Marshall on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
