CARLISLE, Pa. – Gibbs Preston (Baltimore,
Md./McDonogh) recorded four goals to lead McDaniel to a
12-5 victory over Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC)
men's lacrosse action on Friday.
With the victory, the Green Terror (10-5, 4-4 CC) kept its CC
playoff hopes alive. McDaniel needs Haverford to defeat Swarthmore
on Saturday to earn the No. 4 seed in next weekend's
tournament.
Casey Finkelstein tallied twice for the Red Devils
(6-8, 2-6 CC), who evened the game at 1-all midway through the
first period but allowed six straight Green Terror goals to fall in
a 7-1 hole with 9:13 remaining in the second quarter.
Preston started the run with a solo run at the 6:26 mark of the
first quarter before DJ Rickels (Forest Hill, Md./Boys
Latin School of Maryland) finished a Jed Barnes
(Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) assist just 1:28
later.
Preston and Rickels alternated goals, giving the visitors a 6-1
lead with 12:43 showing in the second period before Matthew
Daley (Wilmington, Del./A.I. Dupont) broke up the
Rickels-Preston show with a goal at the 9:13 mark.
Sam Greensburg and Finkelstein pulled the hosts
within 7-3 at the intermission before Daley started a four-goal
flurry with 11:54 showing in the third quarter that stretched the
lead to 11-3 with just over 20 minutes to play.
Chris Dodson rounded out the third-quarter scoring
before Daley and Finkelstein accounted for an even
fourth.
Daley and Rickels each scored three times for
McDaniel.
