Blog: Women's Basketball Travels to Portugal and France

Throughout its nine-day trip to Portugal and France, women's basketball will be providing insights through a blog on the athletics website as well as updates through the athletics and women's basketball Instagram accounts.

Sunday, May 31

After saying goodbye to Bayeux, we arrived at the train station for our journey to Paris. We then met our bus and had free time to grab a quick lunch.

In the afternoon, we visited the world-famous Louvre Museum, home to some of the most iconic works of art in the world.

After checking into our hotel, we enjoyed dinner in the city.

We then wrapped up the day with an evening metro ride to the Seine, where we took a scenic boat cruise to experience the beauty of Paris illuminated at night, including the sparkling Eiffel Tower.

Saturday, May 30

Following breakfast at the hotel, our team traveled to the iconic Mont Saint-Michel for a day of sightseeing and exploration.

Upon arrival, we climbed the many steps to the top of the island, taking in breathtaking views of the surrounding bay and experiencing one of France's most famous landmarks up close. After reaching the top, players had free time to enjoy lunch and explore the charming streets and shops.

In the afternoon, we returned to Bayeux and arrived back at the hotel with time to relax before spending a free evening in town, where everyone made their own dinner plans and continued exploring the local culture. With the UEFA Champions League Final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal taking place that night, the town was filled with people and energy.

Friday, May 29

We began with a quick stop in Sainte-Mère-Église before heading to Utah Beach, where we visited the Musée du Débarquement to learn more about the D-Day landings. From there, we traveled to Point du Hoc and explored the cliffs and bunkers that played such an important role during WWII.

After lunch at L'Omaha, we spent time walking along Omaha Beach before visiting the Colleville American Cemetery, a powerful tribute to the soldiers who fought in Normandy.

We ended the day back in Bayeux with an orientational walk through the town and a free evening to explore and enjoy dinner on our own.
