LANCASTER, Pa. - McDaniel College men's basketball sophomore
Ashenafi Stuart was named Centennial Conference Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
It is the first career honor for Stuart and third this season for the Green Terror. Senior
David Kearney was honored on December 23 and junior
Ryan Shaffer earned his first career selection on November 25.
Stuart averaged 20.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals as McDaniel extended its Centennial Conference win streak to four. The last time the Green Terror won four consecutive conference games was during the 2015-16 season.
Stuart scored a career-high 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting to lead McDaniel a 66-61 win at Johns Hopkins last Wednesday, its first win over the Blue Jays since Feb. 10, 2016, snapping a 17-game losing streak. He followed that with 13 points and six rebounds, including a half-court buzzer beater, as the Green Terror rallied from an 18-point deficit to post a 66-64 win over Dickinson on Saturday.
McDaniel is currently in sole possession of the sixth and final spot in the 2026 Centennial Conference Men's Basketball Championship with two games remaining. The team is half-a-game game ahead of Muhlenberg with the two teams scheduled to close out the season against each other on Saturday.
The Green Terror travel to Gettysburg tomorrow to battle the rival Bullets. Tip-off is at 8 p.m.
