WESTMINSTER, Md. - Senior
David Kearney totaled his second double double of the season as the McDaniel College men's basketball team posted a 65-60 Centennial Conference victory over Washington College Wednesday night inside the Gill Center.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Green Terror (12-8, 2-6 CC) and was their fourth-straight win at home against the Shoremen.
The game featured four ties and four lead changes with McDaniel leading by as many as 11 in the second half. The team totaled 34 points in the paint and had 16 off 11 Washington turnovers. The Green Terror also had a season-high 15 assists.
Kearney totaled 23 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, three assists, and two blocks. Sophomore
Ashenafi Stuart had 13 points, including nine on three three-pointers. Junior
Ryan Shaffer just missed his fourth double double of the season with 12 points and eight rebounds while senior
Matt Kearney missed his first with 10 points and seven rebounds.
The two teams traded leads throughout the first half, but led by 14 points from
David Kearney, McDaniel led 32-28 at halftime.
Two free throws by
Matt Kearney extended the Green Terror to 44-33 early in the second before a lay-up by Jaedon Harris pulled the Shoremen (10-10, 0-8 CC) within five, 54-49 with 7:34 remaining.
That would be as close as the visitors would get as two free throws from Stuart with 39 seconds left helped seal the win.
McDaniel wraps up its two-game home stand on Saturday when it hosts Haverford for a 2 p.m. tip-off inside the Gill Center. With five games remaining, the Green Terror are two games out of the sixth and final spot in the 2026 Centennial Conference Men's Basketball Championship.
