Andre Allen was named Centennial Conference Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
It marks the first career honor for Allen and the 15th for the Green Terror over the last six seasons. He is one of seven different Green Terror to be honored during that time, joining senior
Thomas Monn, first-year
Branden Whyte-Taylor,
Alex DuFour, Jaedyn Harris, Alex LaVeck, and Tony Wuest.
Allen is the third selection for McDaniel this season. Monn was honored on December 9 and Whyte-Taylor was selected on November 11.
Allen finished first at 157 pounds to highlight nine place winners at the Ken Ober Invitational hosted by Elizabethtown on Saturday. It was his first career tournament title and fifth top 5 finish. He went 4-0 with four bonus-point wins, including a 16-5 major decision over Stevens' Michael O'Connor in the final. Allen also recorded the fastest fall of his career with a win in just 22 seconds over Pierre-Jovan Fuentes of York (Pa.) in the second round.
On Friday, Allen earned a 7-5 decision over Muhlenberg in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams.
McDaniel returns to action next Saturday, January 31 when it hosts a Centennial Conference quad match with Gettysburg, Merchant Marine, and Ursinus inside the Gill Center beginning at noon.
