No. 23 McDaniel Falls to Gettysburg on the Road, 26-15

GETTYSBURG, Md. - Gettysburg won the last two matches at 157 and 165 pounds to secure a 26-15 Centennial Conference victory over the No. 23-ranked McDaniel College men's wrestling team Thursday night inside Bream Gymnasium.

The Green Terror (6-8, 1-3 CC) suffered their first loss in the last four meetings against the Bullets.

McDaniel jumped out to a 7-0 lead following back-to-back wins by junior Alex Taylor and senior Avery Cummings at 174 and 184 pounds, respectively. Taylor started things off with a 13--5 major decision over Ean Wilson.

The win was the 20th of the season for Taylor, making him the fourth Green Terror with at least 20 wins this season. He joins senior Romeo Tsai, first-year Andrew Dolezel, and senior Thomas Monn.

The Bullets (4-7, 3-2 CC) won the next two matches to take a 9-7 lead with Simon Taylor, ranked eighth in Region 3, edging out a 7-2 decision at 285 pounds.

Tsai gave the lead back to the visitors with a 13-8 decision over Noah Hinkel at 125 before the lead changed for the fourth and final time when Torey Falkinburg received an injury default against first-year Andrew Yuen.

Brendan Callahan, ranked sixth in Region 3, posted a major decision at 141 pounds before Monn pulled McDaniel within, 19-15, with a tech fall at 149. Monn, ranked second nationally and first in Region 3, remained unbeaten in 32 matches this season with his 30th bonus-point victory against Jake Mitchell who is ranked fourth in Region 3.

Gettysburg sealed the win after a decision by Gavin Pascoe, ranked second in Region 3 at 157 pounds, and a major decision by Ethan Composto, also ranked second in Region 3.

First-year Neil Sharma and senior Zeke Gayle each picked wins in exhibition matches Thursday.

The Green Terror wrap up the regular season at home on Friday when they host Johns Hopkins in the annual battle for the Crab Cup at 7 p.m. Prior to the match, the team will honor its seven seniors: Cummings, Gayle, Monn, Tsai, Andre Allen, Kaden Bryan, and Lucas Ibacache.
