WESTMINSTER, Md. - In a Centennial Conference championship preview, the McDaniel College men's wrestling team hosted a quad match with Gettysburg, Merchant Marine, and Ursinus on Saturday inside the Gill Center.

The Green Terror (6-7) fell to Ursinus in the opener, 36-8, before being edged by defending conference champion Merchant Marine, 24-21.

Senior Thomas Monn was the lone double winner for McDaniel, improving his record to 31-0 this season, including 12-0 in dual matches. All but two of his 31 victories have been bonus point wins.

Monn began the day with a tech fall over Sam Teti of Ursinus, 16-1 in 4:32, his career-high eighth tech fall of the season. Against Merchant Marine, he recorded his 17th fall of the season in 2:58 over Aidan Krass. It was Monn's 61st career fall, setting a new program record and breaking a tie with Brock Glotfelty '11 and Charlie Conaway '00.

The school record holder in career wins, Monn is now 133-11 overall, 60-1 in dual matches, 17-0 in conference matches, and 23-0 if you include the conference tournament.

Ursinus (10-2, 4-0 CC) won eight of the 10 matches with first-year Andrew Yuen registering the only other win for the Green Terror as he posted a 10-9 decision over Blaise Verdino who is ranked sixth in Region 3.

McDaniel won four of the first five matches against the Mariners (8-5, 2-1 CC) to take an 18-6 lead. Senior Romeo Tsai started things off with a fall in 4:55 over Cayden Farmer back-to-back falls by Monn and first-year Andrew Dolezel put the Green Terror in front by 12.

First-year AJ Kuntz edged out a 4-3 decision over Jacob Wilson at 165 pounds to preserve the 12-point lead, but Merchant Marine scored the final 15 points with wins in the final four matches, including two tightly-contested decisions at 174 and 197 pounds.

McDaniel closes out the regular season with two conference matches this week beginning Thursday at Gettysburg.
