WESTMINSTER, Md. - Highlighted by a first-period fall by senior Zeke Gayle, the No. 20 McDaniel College men's wrestling team closed out the regular season with a 29-17 victory over Johns Hopkins Friday night inside the Gill Center.

With the win, the Green Terror (7-8, 2-3 CC) retained the Crab Cup for the fourth consecutive year. They have won the Crab Cup, which is presented annually to the winner between the two Division III men's wrestling programs in the state of Maryland, every year since its inception in 2023.

McDaniel jumped out to a 23-0 lead after winning the first five matches, three of which came from seniors. After a forfeit started things off at 125, senior Romeo Tsai picked up his career-high 24th win of the season, and first at 133 pounds, with a 9-4 decision over Duncan Stadler.

Senior Thomas Monn posted his 10th tech fall of the season with a 20-2 victory over Joey Saito at 149 pounds, improving his record to 33-0 this season, including 14-0 in dual matches.

Senior Andre Allen followed with an 11-4 decision at 157, picking up his career-high 20th win of the season. He is one of five Green Terror to reach 20 wins this season, joining Tsai, Monn, junior Andrew Dolezel, and junior Alex Taylor.

Trailing 23-0, the Blue Jays (11-1, 0-3 CC) won the next three matches to pull within 12 points, 23-11, with two matches remaining. However, Gayle denied any hopes of a comeback with his 14th win of the season, including his sixth fall, both career highs.

All seven of McDaniel's seniors saw action on Friday with four recording victories.

The Green Terror will now prepare for the 2026 Centennial Conference Wrestling Championships next Saturday, February 14 at Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. Action gets underway at 10 a.m.
