Brown Sets Record, Men Win Team Title at Final Qualifier

WINCHESTER, Va. - Senior Alex Brown beat a six-year-old program record to help the McDaniel College men's track & field team win the team title at the South Region Final Qualifier hosted by Shenandoah Saturday.

The Green Terror won the team title with a score of 74 points, defeating 17 other teams. Christopher Newport placed second with 72 points.

Graduate student Nick Raumann led the team in points with 18 points.

Brown set a new program record in the heptathlon with a total of 4,139 points. This mark beats the previous record of 4,069 points set by Nevin Stambaugh at the 2019 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship.

In the heptathlon, Brown won the high jump with a mark of 1.80m (5-10.75), a mark that ranks sixth in program history. He also placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.04 seconds, the eighth-fastest mark in program history.

Brown also placed second in the long jump (6.33m), third in the pole vault (3.13m), fifth in the 60 meters (7.36), sixth in the shot put (10.56m), and seventh in the 1,000 meters (3:23.96).

Raumann won the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:06.99. He also placed second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:11.56.

Graduate Student Tyler Richardson placed second in the mile with a time of 4:25.67 to move into fourth in program history in the event.

Brown placed second in the long jump with a mark of 6.29 meters (20-7.75) while junior Christian Homer placed third with a mark of 6.13 meters (20-1.5). Homer also placed sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.44 meters (40-9.75).

Junior Jack Sears placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.16.

Graduate student Chett Brunner placed third in shot put with a mark of 15.44m (50-8) and junior Jayden Rodwell placed eighth with a mark of 12.27m (40-3.25).

Rodwell also placed fifth in the weight throw with a mark of 12.98m (42-7) while junior AJ Iglesias placed sixth at 12.51m (41-0.5).

Senior Oral-Anthony Coleman placed sixth in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.07. 

McDaniel opens the 2025 outdoor track & field schedule on Friday, March 28 at the Doc Jopson Invitational hosted by Bridgewater.
