LANDOVER, Md. - The McDaniel College men's indoor track & field team returned to action for the first time in 43 days on Saturday, competing at the Cardinal Classic hosted by Catholic at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex.
The Green Terror placed seventh out of 16 teams with 29 points. Centennial Conference rival Johns Hopkins took home the team title with 133 points while Bridgewater (Va.) came in second with 93 points. McDaniel finished ahead of a second conference rival, Franklin & Marshall, who came in 10th with 13 points.
Senior Christian Homer lead the team in scoring with nine points. He placed fourth in triple jump with a mark of 12.17m to qualify for the conference championship meet. He was also sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.76m and 10th in the high jump with a leap of 1.65m.
Junior Braylon Johnson placed eighth in the long jump at 5.57m while senior Keiron Wilson placed 10th at 5.41m.
Wilson placed seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 12.03m.
First-year David Smith placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.85m, moving him into fourth in program history.
First-year Caleb Andoh had a time of 8.77 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to place fifth. He moved into fourth in program history and qualified for the Centennial Conference Championships. Junior Roman Arensmeyer placed 13th with a time of 9.34 seconds.
Smith placed 12th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.27 seconds, the 10th-fastest time in program history. Sophomore Robert Wood placed 27th with a time of 7.51 seconds, first-year Aden Flaherty placed 42nd in 7.98 seconds and first-year Kyan Hayes placed 44th in 8.16 seconds.
Senior Ethan Bush placed sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 53.36 seconds and Andoh followed with a conference championship qualifying time of 54.01 seconds. Junior Abhishek Mudireddy made his return to track with a time of 56.74 seconds.
Bush placed 15th in the 200 meters with a conference qualifying time of 24.17 seconds. Flaherty placed 17th in 24.41 seconds, Johnson placed 25th in 24.77 seconds, and Wood placed 32nd in 25.20 seconds.
Graduatestudent John Geniti placed 15th in the pole vault with a mark of 3.35m.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Bush, Flaherty, Johnson and first-year Isaac Greeson placed fifth with a time of 3:42.04.
Greeson had a time of 2:06.02 in the 800 meters to place eighth and first-year Logan Kille had a time of 2:33.60 to place 24th.
Senior AJ Iglesias placed 13th in the weight throw with a mark of 10.97m, junior Jacob Gibson registered a mark of 10.61m to place 15th, and junior Jamey Travers placed 17th with a mark of 10.38m.
Sophomore Parker Foster placed 13th in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:46.32 and junior Zac Kane placed 15th with a time of 10:46.79.
Gibson threw 10.04m in shot put to place 22nd and sophomore Darnell Gilliam placed 24th with a mark of 9.89m.
McDaniel returns to action next Saturday, January 24 at the Shane Stevens Invitational hosted by Bridgewater (Va.).
