LANCASTER, Pa. - McDaniel College men's wrestling junior
Thomas Monn was named Centennial Conference Wrestler of the Year for the third-straight season on Friday, highlighting three All-Centennial Conference selections.
A three-time first team all-conference selection, Monn was joined on the first team by seniors
Xavier Howard and
Val Pryor.
Monn is the first wrestler to earn three Wrestler of the Year honors in Centennial Conference history. Last weekend, he won his third conference title at 149 pounds and was named Most Outstanding Performer for the second year in-a-row.
Monn enters the regional championships ranked 10th nationally with a record of 28-2 and 24 bonus-point wins, including 13 falls and six tech falls. For his career, he is ranked sixth in program history with 95 win, posting a 95-9 record.
Howard earned his third all-conference honor and second first team selection after winning his second-straight conference title at 157 pounds. He is ranked fourth in Region 3 with a 27-4 record with 16 bonus-point wins, including 11 tech falls.
Howard also has 95 career wins, tying him with Monn for sixth in program history with a 95-39 record.
Pryor earned his first All-Centennial Conference selection after winning his first conference championship at 197 pounds. He enters the regional championship next week ranked third on the team with a career-high 21 wins, posting a 21-8 record with eight bonus-point wins.
In addition, Pryor also received his second consecutive All-Sportsmanship Team selection.
McDaniel returns to action tomorrow at the Mideast Futures Tournament hosted by The College of New Jersey. The NCAA Region 3 Championship begin next Friday, Feb. 28 at Messiah University.
