FROSTBURG, Md. - McDaniel College women's wrestling freshman
Taylor Mead posted three wins en route to a sixth-place finish at the Bobcat Open hosted by Frostburg State Saturday.
Mead was one of three competitors for the Green Terror who totaled 13.5 points to finish 21st out of 36 teams.
Mead totaled 10.5 points and posted a 3-3 record, advancing to the fifth place match at 145 pounds. One of her three losses came in the quarterfinals against the nation's fifth-ranked wrestler, Zoey Lints of Elmira.
After falling into the consolation bracket, Mead responded with a fall in just 1:14 over the third-ranked wrestler in Region 1, Talia Robles of Elmira. Mead then recorded a 4-2 decision over Tayla Tildsley of Sacred Heart before falling to Emmanuel's Kendra Heroch in the consolation semifinals.
McDaniel's final three points came from sophomore
Maria Samuel at 160 pounds. She began her day with a fall in 2:03 over Maine Maritime's Cecilia Edwards before falling to Presbyterian's Isabella Gretzinger in the quarterfinals. She finished her day with a loss to Isabell Kessey of West Liberty in the consolation bracket.
Junior
Bayleigh Perdue competed in two matches at 103 pounds, falling to the nation's fifth-ranked wrestler, Avery Kibelbek of King (TN) in her first match before falling to Frostburg State's Faith Day in the consolation bracket.
The Green Terror return to action next Saturday, Feb. 8 with a dual match at Ursinus beginning at noon.
