MANHEIM, Pa. - McDaniel College women's wrestling freshman
Taylor Mead was recently selected as a Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
To earn NWCA Scholar All-American honors, a student-athlete must meet place in top eight at nationals AND at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) OR compete in a minimum of 15 matches and have AND have a 3.5 cumulative GPA OR be a national qualifier AND have at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA.
A Biology major, Mead is the first student-athlete in program history to earn Scholar All-America honors with a 3.850 GPA. She finished fifth at the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) Region II Championships, one win shy of earning a spot at the NCWWC National Championships.
Mead posted a 22-13 record at 145 pounds this season with 11 falls and four tech falls.
