THE REST OF THE STORY
• In game one, Megan Horsey singled through the right side with two outs before scoring on an Evie Craig (Valby, Denmark/International School of Hellerup) double into the left-field corner for a 1-0 lead.
• Isabella Sylvester (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) singled to lead off the third inning and stole second. After moving to third on a Kylie Sears single, Sylvester was able to score on a Horsey sacrifice fly to the track in center field for a 2-0 lead.
• Maddie Solow led off the fourth inning with a bloop single before an error on a bunt attempt scored both runners to tie the game.
• Mackenzie Brennan started the top of the fifth with a double to gap before an error on the ensuing sacrifice attempt also allowed Brennan to score the go-ahead run.
• A Sylvester single and fielding error put runners at the corners for Horsey in the fifth. The senior drove a 2-1 pitch back up the middle to score Sylvester and collect her 100th collegiate hit, tying the game at 3-all.
• Mattie Whalen (Magnolia, N.J./Sterling) led of the sixth with a double before moving to third on a sacrifice. After a throwing error allowed Whalen to come home with the go-ahead run, Megan Cappadora (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) was hit by the first pitch she saw as a pinch-hitter. After a fielder's choice, a Sears single scored Angelina Tyler (Columbia, Md./Howard) and another error allowed Sylvester to also come home for the 6-3 final.
• In game two, Sylvester led off the bottom of the first with a double before moving to third on a sacrifice and scoring on a Horsey groundout for a 1-0 lead.
• Sara Sullivan led off the second with a single before a one-out Madison Wilson home run cleared the left-field fence for a 2-1 lead.
• Horsey drew a two-out walk in the home third before a Makayla Calamita (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood Area) single and Cappadora hit by pitch loaded the bases. Madison Froemel (Suffolk, Va./Kings Fork) drew a walk to force in Horsey and tie the game.
• Hannah Raygor (Frederick, Md./Seneca Valley) singled to lead off the fourth before stealing second and scoring on a two-out Sears single for a 3-2 lead.
• Allyson Meakim walked in the sixth before eventually scoring on a misplay to once again tie the game.
• Amanda Panati drew a walk with one out in the seventh before a St. Jean single and Solow walk loaded the bases. A Meakim groundball plated Panati with the go-ahead run before Stephanie Wichman worked around a pair of baserunners in the bottom of the frame for the win in relief.
