THE SKINNY
McDaniel scored four runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning of game two to complete a sweep of Washington (Md.), winning game two 4-2 after capturing game one, 5-1.

THE LEADERS
• Hannah Raygor (Frederick, Md./Seneca Valley) led the Green Terror with five hits on the afternoon, including a 3-for-3 game two. She also made a diving catch in the gap to help preserve the lead in the top of the seventh inning.
• Mattie Whalen (Magnolia, N.J./Sterling) added five hits of her own.
• Hannah Costa (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) pitched 10 innings in the circle, closing out the final three innings of game one for her first collegiate save before going the distance in game two for the win.

FOR THE FOES
• Alyssa Vieira led the Shorewomen with five hits on the day.
• Lilly Cook added two hits in game one.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• In the opener, Evie Craig (Valby, Denmark/International School of Hellerup) led off the home second with a walk before moving to second on a groundout. With two outs, Hannah Raygor poked a double into left field to score Craig for a 1-0 lead. Mattie Whalen followed with a double of her own to plate Raygor and double the advantage.
• Alyssa Vieira led off the top of the fourth with an infield single. After moving to second on a sacrifice, Lexi Barnhart drilled a single off the pitcher to put runners at the corners. Barnhart attempted to take second and Megan Horsey (Chesapeake City, Md./Bohemia Manor) threw all the way through. With Vieira taking off for the plate, Makayla Calamita (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood Area) fired back home and Horsey tagged her out at the plate for the second out. After a walk to Chloe Trefz, Maddy Kendall lined a single into left that scored Barnhart but Angelina Tyler (Columbia, Md./Howard) threw out the runner trying to take third to end the frame.
• Horsey led off the bottom of the inning with an infield single before moving to second on a sacrifice. A Raygor single up the middle put runners at the corners. After Raygor stole second, Whalen poked a double down the line for her second double, scoring Horsey for a 3-1 lead. Tyler followed with a sacrifice fly to plate Raygor and push the lead to three.
• After the Green Terror worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the inning, Kylie Sears (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) led off the fifth with a single up the middle before scoring on a two-out Horsey single up the middle for a 5-1 lead.
• Washington drew a pair of walks in the top of the seventh but Isabella Sylvester (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) took a ground ball right at her, stepped on the bag, and fired across the diamond for a game-ending double play.
• Vieira poked a single into the gap to lead off the fourth inning of the nightcap. After a sacrifice moved her to third, Trefz was hit by a pitch with two outs before a throwing error and Gen Kozub single staked the Shorewomen to a 2-0 lead with a pair of unearned runs.
• McDaniel loaded the bases in the home fifth but a fly ball to right turned into a double play at the plate on an Emmalee Cole perfect throw to the plate.
• Sears drew catcher's interference to start the sixth inning. A Calamita ground ball erased Sears before another groundout moved her to second. Horsey poked a ball just out of the reach of the first baseman to put runners at the corners with two down. Paytyn Hazelton (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Seminole Ridge) lined a double to the fence in right-center, scoring both Calamita and Horsey to tie the game. After Hazelton gave way to pinch-runner Julia Dimmick (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase), Raygor poked her third single of the day through the left side, scoring Dimmick for a 3-2 lead. A Whalen single and stolen base put two in scoring position for pinch-hitter Megan Cappadora (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley), who dropped a single into left to score Raygor with the insurance run.
• Stellar defensive plays by Sears and Raygor gave Hannah Costa two quick outs in the top of the seventh before Vieira snuck a single through the left side but Costa came right back with a her sixth strikeout of the game.

THE INSIDE STORY
Megan Horsey added three hits on the day. She also two would-be base stealers.
• The Green Terror needs one win against Ursinus on Saturday to assure itself a berth in next week's conference tournament. A sweep of the Bears will lock up the No. 2 seed for McDaniel and the right to host one of the opening round games next Tuesday.
• Four of Hannah Costa's six strikeouts were looking. All four ended innings, including the seventh.

NEXT UP
McDaniel returns to action at home against Stevenson on Thursday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 3 p.m.
