THE SKINNY
Marymount rapped out 23 hits and scored 18 runs in a doubleheader sweep of McDaniel, winning the first game 9-1 in the five innings before completing the sweep, 9-3.
THE LEADERS
• Madison Froemel (Suffolk, Va./Kings Fork) led the Green Terror with two hits and drove in all four runs.
FOR THE FOES
• Hailey Leamer led the Saints with five hits on the afternoon adding six RBIs.
• Samantha Cinotti added five hits of her own and drove in four.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• In the opener, Samantha Cinotti led off the bottom of the first with a single before taking second on a passed ball and third on a sacrifice. She then scored on a two-out Sara Emig single. A Shanyn Burch single and error made it a 2-0 game.
• Amanda Coates singled to start the second before scoring from third on a Hailey Leamer groundout for a 3-0 lead.
• A Cinotti two-run triple keyed a five-run third inning that put Marymount in position for a run-rule win.
• Taylor Routzahn (Frederick, Md./Frederick), however poked a one-out single to center in the top of the fifth. After she stole second, Madison Froemel put a ball down the third-base line to score Routzahn and make it an 8-1 game.
• Kaylynn Johnson responded with a leadoff single in the home fifth before scoring on a two-out Leamer double to end the game early.
• In game two, Burch led off the second with a triple before scoring on a Johnson double. A two-out Leamer single made it a 2-0 game A Cinotti single scored Leamer to push the lead to 3-0.
• In the top of the fourth, Isabella Sylvester (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) led off with a single before taking second on a passed ball. After back-to-back walks to Mattie Whalen (Magnolia, N.J./Sterling) and Megan Horsey (Chesapeake City, Md./Bohemia Manor) loaded the bases, Froemel doubled to center to clear the bases and tie the game at 3-all.
• A leadoff walk to Chelsea Coleman and passed ball put a runner at second in the bottom of the inning for Leamer, who singled to put Marymount back in front. A Cinotti single and back-to-back sacrifices pushed the lead to 5-3.
• A two-run Cinotti double keyed a three-run fifth before singles from Elizabeth Corcoran and Johnson set the final margin in the sixth.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Isabella Sylvester had two hits in game two.
