THE LEADERS
• Evie Craig (Valby, Denmark/International School of Hellerup) led the Green Terror with five hits and seven RBIs that included a grand slam as part of the seven-run third inning.
• Isabella Sylvester (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) added three hits and three RBIs in game two.
FOR THE FOES
• Alyssa Walters led the Blazers with four hits, including a 3-for-4 game two.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• After just one baserunner in the first three-and-a-half innings of game one, Mattie Whalen (Magnolia, N.J./Sterling) led off the bottom of the fourth with a home run to straightaway center field. Hannah Raygor (Frederick, Md./Seneca Valley) followed with a single to center before stealing second. With one out, Evie Craig dropped a single into left to put runners at the corners. After a passed ball put two in scoring position, a two-out Paytyn Hazelton (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Seminole Ridge) double to the gap made it a 3-0 lead.
• Julia Dimmick (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) doubled to left. A two-out Raygor pop-up single was enough to scoring Dimmick, who was running on contact with two outs. After a stolen base and Megan Horsey (Chesapeake City, Md./Bohemia Manor) walk, Craig singled home Raygor for a 5-0 lead.
• Brandi Davidson led off the top of the sixth with a single before a one-out walk put runners at first and second. A groundout moved both runners into scoring position for Rebecca Gottleib, who singled home Davidson and Cailyn Barthlow to make it 5-2. Kiersten Tomshack followed with an RBI double to make it 5-3.
• Whalen was hit by the first pitch she saw in the bottom of the first in game two before an Isabella Sylvester infield single put two runners on base. After a ground erased Whalen at third, Craig ripped a single to left to plate Sylvester for an early 1-0 lead.
• Kylie Sears (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) and Makayla Calamita (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood Area) led off the home second with back-to-back singles. A one-out Whalen walk loaded the bases for Sylvester, who dropped a single into left that scored Sears and Calamita for a 3-0 lead. A Horsey single scored Whalen from second before back-to-back walks to Craig and Raygor forced in Sylvester for a 5-0 lead.
• The first six batters reached in the top of the third, cutting the deficit to 5-4. Barthlow had the big hit of the inning with a two-run double just inside the left-field line. A Gottleib sacrifice fly knotted the game at 5-all.
• Sears led off the third with a walk before Hood got two quick outs. A Whalen single to shallow center and Sylvester 0-2 single that poked through the right side scored Sears for a 6-5 lead. Horsey drew a four-pitch walk to load the bases for Craig, who blasted an 0-1 pitch over the left-field fence for a 10-5 lead. After Raygor walked and Hazelton was hit by a pitch, Sears and Calamita both had RBI knocks to stretch the lead to 12-5.
• Walters and Mallorie Hetzel led of the top of the fourth with singles before a sacrifice and walk loaded the bases. A Barthlow groundout scored Walters to make it 12-6.
• A Davidson single, wild pitch, and Jocelyn Pfleiger single up the middle made it 12-7 in the sixth before McDaniel plated an unearned run in the bottom of the frame for the final score.
