THE SKINNY
McDaniel got strong pitching and a late run in each game to sweep Messiah. The Green Terror got a sixth-inning home run to win game one 2-1 before walking off with a 1-0 victory in the nightcap.

THE LEADERS
Hannah Costa (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) led the Green Terror in the circle in game two, twirling a complete-game, two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and just one walk.
Krista Waller (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) had a five-strikeout, no-walk performance in the opener, allowing just four baserunners in the contest.
• Paytyn Hazelton (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Seminole Ridge) provided the heroics in the opener with a sixth-inning solo home run.

FOR THE FOES
• McKenzie Shannon was the only Falcon hitter to reach base in both games, including a game-one solo home run.
• Madison Walter struck out seven with no walks in game one before Lydia Collison fanned six and did not issue a free game in the nightcap.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• In the opener, Paytyn Hazelton reached second base with two outs in the second inning on a dropped fly ball before Isabella Sylvester (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) followed with a double into the left-field corner for a 1-0 lead.
• McKenzie Shannon led off the fourth inning with a solo home run just inside the left-field foul pole to tie the game at 1-all.
• With two outs in the home sixth, Hazelton poked a line drive over the center-field fence on a 1-2 pitch and Krista Waller pitched a 1-2-3 seventh for the victory.
• In game two, the Green Terror worked around runners at second and third with one out in the top of the seventh to keep the game scoreless.
• Makayla Calamita (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood Area) led off the bottom of the frame with a single through the right side. After giving way to pinch-runner Julia Dimmick (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase), Megan Cappadora (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) dropped down a bunt that got past a charging defender to put runners at first and second. After a fielder's choice put runners at the corners with one out, Hazelton stole second. Messiah's defense executed its squeeze defense and got the second out at the plate to keep the game scoreless. With Hazelton at third and Sylvester at first, pinch-hitter Kylie Sears (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) forced the defense to rush and misplay a ground ball that allowed Hazelton to score the game-winning run.

THE INSIDE STORY
• Hannah Costa's eight strikeouts in game two not only established a career best but matched her total from her first six appearances combined.
• It was the first time the Green Terror had swept a doubleheader from Messiah since 2004.
• McDaniel pitching limited the Falcons to just eight total baserunners in the two games.
Isabella Sylvester had two hits in game one while Calamita had a pair of knocks in game two.
