FOR THE FOES
• Serena Goodridge led Arcadia to a 10-4 win in the opener with three hits.
• Kassie Simmons had two hits and four RBIs to lead Greensboro to a 10-4 win in the second game of the day.
• Bailey Caldwell was 2-for-3 to lead Wesleyan (Ga.) to a 10-1, five-inning victory in the finale.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• In the opener, Arcadia jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second innings keyed by a Shannon Shea two-run single. A Morgan Marchesani two-run double was the big hit of a four-run third that pushed the lead to 9-0.
• A Megan Horsey double and Megan Cappadora (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) single made it 9-1 in the bottom of the third.
• A two-out Effia Jamimia home run in the fifth made it 10-1 before two unearned runs in the home fifth and a Mattie Whalen (Magnolia, N.J./Sterling) one-out solo shot in the sixth set the final margin.
• In the second game, Horsey drew a walk in the top of the first before scoring on an Evie Craig (Valby, Denmark/International School of Hellerup) for a 1-0 lead. Hannah Raygor (Frederick, Md./Seneca Valley) singled in the second and scored on a one-out Makayla Calamita (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood Area) knock for a 2-0 lead.
• Greensboro responded, however, with a five-run bottom of the second behind three McDaniel errors.
• Whalen and Horsey led off the third with back-to-back hits before Whalen scored on a Craig base hit and Horsey scored on a Raygor RBI groundout. The Pride tacked on another unearned tally in the bottom of the inning on a Madison Dillner sacrifice fly to make it 6-4.
• A Kassie Simmons home keyed a three-run fifth that made it 9-4 before Greensboro added one more in the sixth for the final margin.
• In the finale, Wesleyan jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first. It was a Savannah Pollock triple that was the big hit in the frame. After a single run in the third, a Tihana Zupanic home run keyed a four-run fourth that made it 10-0. Calamita reached in the bottom of the fifth and scored on a Kylie Sears (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) groundout to break up the shutout.
