THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel scored a single run in its final at bat of each game to break a deadlock and sweep Muhlenberg. The Green Terror won the opener 4-3 on a walkoff before scoring in the sixth inning and getting a game-ending double play in the top of the seventh for a 5-4 win and the sweep.
THE LEADERS
• Michaela Persinger (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin) led McDaniel with four hits, including three doubles, two RBIs, two walks, and two runs scored.
• Megan Horsey (Elkton, Md./Bohemia Manor) added five hits in the twinbill, including three doubles in the opener. She also scored five runs, including the game-winner in the first game.
FOR THE FOES
• Lauren Griggs led the Mules with four hits, including a 3-for-3 game one.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• In game one, Kristin Oberg was hit by a one-out pitch before a Griggs infield single with two outs put runners at first and third. A Genna Cicchetti single to left plated Oberg before Sara Fallon singled home Griggs for a 2-0 lead.
• Back-to-back one-out doubles from Megan Horsey and Michaela Persinger cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the first.
• Horsey and Persinger did the same thing in the third inning to tie the game.
• Kylie Sears (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) doubled to lead off the bottom of the sixth. Pinch-runner Julia Dimmick (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) took third on a wild pitch before scoring on a Makayla Calamita (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood Area) sacrifice fly for a 3-2 edge.
• A one-out Sara Raab double in the top of the seventh put the tying run on base. She took advantage of a pair of wild pitches to tie the game.
• Horsey led off the home seventh with a double off the fence in center field before Persinger poked a single through the left side to put runners at the corners. After Persinger stole second, Madison Froemel (Suffolk, Va./Kings Fork) rolled a ball to short and Horsey beat the throw home for the victory.
• Sarah Karmazyn led off game two with a single before moving to second on a sacrifice, third on a groundout and scoring on a Cicchetti single to left.
• With one out in the bottom of the frame, Horsey reached on an infield single before a Persinger double put runners at the corners. Froemel poked a single through the left side to tie the game before a fielding error and Evie Craig (Valby, Demark/International School of Hellerup) single made it a 2-1 game.
• An Oberg double, Griggs single, and throwing error on a pickoff attempt tied the game in the third inning.
• A pair of walks around a Horsey single to right loaded the bases with one out in the home fourth. A well-placed two-out popup by Mattie Whalen (Magnolia, N.J./Sterling) in shallow center scored a pair of runs for a 4-2 lead.
• Muhlenberg got back even on an error on a stolen-base attempt and Sarah Karmazyn double in the sixth.
• Persinger was hit by a one-out pitch in the sixth before a Froemel single and Whalen single up the middle put McDaniel back in front.
• Samantha Winegard singled to lead off the top of the seventh before moving to second on a sacrifice. After a hit batter, a Calamita made a snag on a line drive to her left at shortstop and dove to the bag at second to end the game.
