THE REST OF THE STORY
• Aided by a trio of offside calls, Susquehanna took the opening possession 75 yards in 13 plays, ending with a Samuel Darrell 24-yard touchdown pass. A miscue on the ensuing PAT forced Elijah Hoffman to scramble for the two-point conversion and an 8-0 lead with 11:09 on the clock.
• On McDaniel's first play from scrimmage, Diondre Carter tip-toed up the near sideline for 70 yards to move the ball to the River Hawks 16. Three plays later, Peyton Denlinger (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) drilled a 38-yard field goal to make it a 7-3 game with 8:31 showing.
• John Allan Furgeson (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) found Marcus Sessoms for an 80-yard catch-and-run down the far sideline to the Susquehanna 6. Three plays later, the Green Terror was forced to attempt a 23-yard field goal. A high snap forced Cameron Garcia (Elkton, Md./Bohemia Manor) to take off with the ball. As he was being tackled, he flipped the ball back to Denlinger, who found Carter for a touchdown. The ensuing PAT was blocked to keep it a 9-8 game with 10:04 to play in the second quarter.
• Forcing a punt from the River Hawk 25, Nah'shon Godfrey (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) came off the edge and blocked the kick. Kyle Silver (Brooklyn Park, Md./North County) scooped it up inside the five-yard line and made it to the end zone for a touchdown and 16-8 lead with 3:52 remaining.
• Susquehanna took 14 plays to move 65 yards on the ensuing possession when Michael Ruisch found Eddie Nugent for a 13-yard touchdown grab just over the end line with 25 seconds left. The River Hawks missed the two-point attempt to keep it a 16-14 game.
• McDaniel fumbled the kickoff to give Susquehanna the ball at the Green Terror 24 with 16 seconds on the clock. Elijah Hoffman turned the extra possession into a 25-yard field goal just inside the right upright and 17-16 edge at the intermission.
• Neither team could get much going after halftime until the final minute of the third quarter when Ruisch found Michael Lefever for 52 yards and a touchdown with 31 seconds left in the period. The Hoffman PAT made it 24-16.
• A 47-yard Darrell catch set up a four-yard touchdown grab by the same receiver for a 31-16 lead with 12:42 to play in the fourth.
• Dashon Bundy cashed in a short field after an interception with a 15-yard run up the middle to cap a four-play, 37-yard drive to stretch the lead to 38-16 with 10:15 remaining.
• Gavin Coles capped a methodical 14-play drive with a four-yard touchdown dive to set the final score with 1:14 showing.
