WESTMINSTER, Md. - Sophomore
Jason St. Leger ran for 103 yards and one touchdown to highlight a 13-7 season opening win for the McDaniel College football team on Friday night on Rembert Field at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium.

St. Leger is the third different player to rush for 100 yards for McDaniel in the last four seasons. Sophomore
Cordae James ran for 140 yards in a 24-7 win over Juniata at home on Sept. 20, 2025 while Trent Gaskins had 118 yards rushing against William Paterson on Sept. 16, 2023.
James finished the game with 81 yards rushing.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Green Terror struck first when St. Leger scored his first career touchdown on a 2-yard run with 12:46 left in the second quarter.

Michael Brown Jr to take a 13-0 halftime lead. Brown had two catches for 31 yards and one score.
Meanwhile, the Green Terror defense held the Cardinals (0-1) scoreless through three quarters before the visitors scored their only points on a 24-yard touchdown pass of their own with 13:34 remaining.
McDaniel held Catholic to just 200 yards of total offense, including 52 yards rushing, and 3-of-14 on third-down conversions. The Green Terror also had four sacks and nine tackles for loss while forcing four turnovers. THe Cardinals had eight fumbles, but were fortunate to only lose three.
Junior
Taevon LeGrande, an All-Centennial Conference Honorable Mention selection in 2024, led the defense with 12 total tackles, including two for loss and one sack. Four different players had at least one sack while another four forced a turnover.
McDaniel travels to No. 17 Salisbury next Saturday, Sept 13 for a 1 p.m. kickoff with the Sea Gulls.
